At Cotronei, apart from "Palazzo Verga" and "Cappella Verga"
itself, there is also the main church San Nicola (Saint Nicklaus,
saint patron of the village) and the old town centre to be visited.
The mountainous part of Cotronei, Trepidò Soprana, is about 10 km from the village. In the summer one can undertake naturalistic excursions, go for a ride, play tennis or adventure himself on the summer bobsled station. In the winter the skiing station is the main attraction, altough there is also the possibility to entertain oneself with ice skating.

Le Castella, about 50 km from Cotronei, is one of the most popular
touristic centres of the area in the summertime.
Why not go for a walk, taste an ice-cream and enjoy the air of the sea with its unforgettable view?
The National Park of the Sila, which just begins at Trepidò
Soprana and expands into the infinite woods of the Calabrian Sila, is something marvellous for everybody who loves nature.
A real wonder of nature are the "Giganti della Sila" (Giants of the Sila) at Sculca.
Capo Colonna, symbol par excellence of Crotone, is about 60 km away from Cotronei .
It is surly one of the monuments to be visited together with its neighbouring park and its archaeological museum to understand plenty what once upon a time Magna Grecia was.
Caccuri, about 20 km from Cotronei, invites you to visit the almost
intact old town centre and the castle fascinates the visitor with its
romantic appeal.
San Giovanni in Fiore,a city centre of the Sila about
30 km from Cotronei, invites you to have a walk in the
marvellous old city centre and to visit the wonderful monumental Abby Florense,
founded by Gioaccino da Fiore who has also been cited by Dante in his
"Divine Comedy".
Accerenthia, about 20 km from Cotronei, was abandoned in the
1700, but still the ruins keep their fascination and from the plateau one
can enjoy a marvellous panorama.

The area of Cirò with its Punto Alice, its Saracen' Markets and its vine yards Rossano with its old Codex Purpureum and its Museum Amarelli (liquorice) Cosenza with its old city centre and monuments Catanzaro and the archaeological park at Roccelletta di Borgia Reggio Calabria and its famous Bronzes of Riace
There are other villages in Crotone's hinterland waiting for you as
Mesoracca, Petilia Policastro, Altlia, Castelsilano and others.
Some of them do still keep real little treasures, waiting only to be discovered by its visitors.
Crotone, main city of the Province, is situated 45 km from Cotronei. In ancient times it was known as
the famous Greek colony Kroton (Magna Grecia) which offered also hospitality to
illustrious personalities as Pitagora.
The archaeological museum and the castle - fortress of Carlo V° are only two hints of greatness and ancient history of this city.
Camigliatello, about 50 km from Cotronei, is one of the most
popular touristic centres of the mountains.
One can also visit the literal park of "Old Calabria" inspired by the book of Norman Douglas and its museum of emigration called "Nave della Sila" (Ship of the Sila).
The protected marine reserve of Isola Capo Rizzuto, about 55 km
from Cotronei, is definitely a paradise for those who loves the seaside,
scuba diving
and snorkelling.
Santa Severina, about 25 km from Cotronei, with its castle -
fortress, its cathedral and its square is surly to be
considered one of the most beautiful and suggestive villages of
Crotone's hinterland.
